These terms cover the website at ui.kadal.cc: the docs, the playground and the component registry it serves. The site is run by Mithunish Prabhakaran, an individual based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, trading as Kadal ("we", "us"). It is free, has no accounts and sells nothing. By using it you agree to these terms; the software itself is governed by its licence, not by this page.

1. The software: MIT

Kadal UI, meaning the components in the registry, the examples and the @kadal/ui CLI, is open source under the MIT licence. You may use, copy, change and sell it, in commercial products included, as long as the licence notice stays with the copies. The licence is the whole agreement for the code: it comes without warranty of any kind, and these terms add no promise to it.

2. The docs: CC BY 4.0

The text and images on this site are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0, so you may quote, translate and republish them with a credit to Kadal UI and a link back. Code samples in the docs are MIT, like the code they describe. The Kadal name and mark are not licensed: do not use them in a way that suggests we made, endorse or support your product.

3. The registry and the playground

• The registry at ui.kadal.cc/r/ is what npx shadcn@latest add @kadal/… reads. It is provided as is; we may change, rename or remove items, and we record every change in the changelog. Your copy of the code is yours and keeps working whatever we do here.
• The playground runs code in your browser with LiveCodes, loaded from livecodes.io under its own licence and terms. What you run there is your responsibility.
• Do not flood, scrape or attack the site or the registry, or use it to distribute anything unlawful. Caching the registry for your own builds is fine.

4. Sponsorships

Sponsorships are made through GitHub Sponsors and are a contract between you and GitHub under GitHub's Sponsors terms; GitHub bills you, and any question about a charge goes to GitHub. The perks of each tier are the ones listed on the sponsor page at the time you sponsor. A sponsorship is not a purchase of support, a service level or a licence, none of which the MIT code needs, and we do not take payment for anything on this site directly.

5. Contributions

By opening a pull request against kadalcc/ui you agree that your contribution is licensed under the same MIT licence as the project, and that you have the right to contribute it. Issues, Discussions and the Discord follow the project's code of conduct.

6. Disclaimers and liability

The site and everything on it are provided "as is", without warranty. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss that comes from using the site, the registry or the software, including lost data or lost profits. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

7. The law that applies

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Chennai, Tamil Nadu have jurisdiction, without taking away any protection the law of your own country gives you.

8. Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, the date above changes with them and the change is noted in the changelog.
